Just a quick post about some funny things Jack and Thomas have been saying lately:
#1 -- I was making soup a while ago and pulled out my jar of beef base from the fridge. Jack asked me what it was, and I opened the container and told him it was "beef bouillon". He gave me a puzzled look and said "Beef Poop-yon? ... Is it stinky?". (The beef base is, after all, an unfortunate color). And I thought his mispronunciation was hilarious, so I started laughing. Thomas and Jack quickly caught on that this was a great way to get me in stitches, so they both started repeating "beef poop-yon" over and over again, much to their delight! I haven't used the beef base in a while, so it was seemingly forgotten, but last night, the boys had just gone to bed but were making lots of noise in their room. I walked in to see what the ruckus was all about, and Jack giggled "beef poop-yon!" and they both laughed. It reminded me of when Kim and I shared a room when we were kids, and we would go into long giggling fits over the silliest things ... until Mom called out down the hall "GOODNIGHT, GIRLS!". It made me remember what fun it was to share a room with a sibling!!
#2 -- One of Thomas's newest phrases is "I got it". If he's trying to do something a little above his ability, he doesn't always like giving in to help. If I offer help, he'll insist "I got it, Mom!" and will repeat insistenly if I try to help him. For some reason, it makes him sound way older than he is!

Easter Eggs, belated
Garden progress
Here are some pictures of our little plants (tomato, pumpkin, cucumber, and basil in the green tray) and strawberry plants in the growing bags.
They're waiting to go into the garden that David is building for me. I can't wait!!
We're digging through some decomposed granite so we can put in the last support pillar for the garden frame -- we have just about 3 more inches to go. So hopefully this weekend we'll be able to build the frame, install the gopher-proof wire mesh on the bottom of the frame, and install the bunny-proof chicken wire fence around the frame. And then put in the soil and plants! The tomato plants are just starting to grow little flower buds, so it won't be long before we can harvest our own fruits and veggies! After the garden frame is finished, we plan to build a frame for a sandbox for the boys so they can play there while I tend to the garden.

Checking things off the list
Some days it seems like I have a long time until Peter is born (i.e. no rush to get ready since I have so much time) and some days it seems like there isn't enough time to get everything done that I'd like to do. This week I've been feeling the crunch a little. I guess I'm a little worried that toward the end of my pregnancy I won't have the energy or ability to do as much. With Jack and Thomas, the last few weeks of pregnancy were uncomfortable, but I could still do pretty much anything I needed to do. But a tiny fear is creeping into my head that I'll be put on bedrest for some reason or another, or my hips will be aching too much to do very physical tasks like deep cleaning and yard work. I'll readily admit these are irrational fears (although the hip one isn't so much -- I was "stuck" sitting on the floor the other day for about 10 minutes because my hip was not cooperating when I tried to get up off the floor). Since I feel good now, I'm trying to take advantage of that just in case I start feeling worse later. I guess it's my way of nesting right now ... and it does mean I'm getting things done.
For instance, I ordered Peter's carseat yesterday, and I feel a huge peace of mind knowing that it's on the way. I'm still working on the backyard -- David is going to build me a frame for my raised-bed garden this weekend (I can't wait!!!) and my strawberry plants arrived today. I'm also still throwing away the cut brush from the backyard, but it's slow going. It would go a little faster, but the dumpster fills up quickly since the brush is poofy and there's no way I'm hopping into the dumpster to stomp it down. I've tried pushing it down with shovels and rakes, but I'm short and I don't have a good angle to really squish it down. So, I have to wait for the dumpster to be emptied (once a week) and refill it after that. I probably have at least 3-4 more dumpster loads of brush to throw away, so I'm looking at 3-4 more weeks until the backyard is "done".
